Lyrebirds are masterful mimickers! copying almost any sound from other birds to chainsaws and car alarms. The Male dances and sings a medley of his songs to attract females. Named after an instrument from Ancient Greece called a Lyre, which has a similar shape to their beautiful tail feathers. The Lyrebirds ancestor is Menura, which fossils show have been around for 15 million years, and the Lyrebird proudly sits on the Australian 10c piece.
