Zebra Finch Fun Facts:

I enjoyed drawing this Zebra Finch but its rare to see just one on its own! They usually hang in large highly social flocks in arid areas of Australia and they are such a joy to watch dart between branches and a waterhole. Their name comes from the Zebra markings on the males neck plumage. I love learning more about each bird as I draw them and its interesting how the female Zebra Finches don’t sing, but the males compose original songs that are unique to them, which become heightened when conditions are good for eating and mating and his singing keeps them bonded as a pair and socially bonded as a flock
